Adapted from the classic novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the prominent productions of the year with 9 Oscar nominations at the 95th Academy Awards and 14 nominations for the 76th BAFTA Awards. Stendhal, the pioneer of Realism in Literature, tells the story from the perspective of a character named Fabrizio Del Dongo, who is in the war and does not understand what is happening, in his epic work called Parma Monastery. In this movie, which turns the audience’s head with its extraordinary visual atmosphere and fascinating cinematography, we see that the director reflects the event from the very heart of the war to the audience in order to increase the tension even more. In the film, in which the war is narrated from the German front, the fascinating perspectives of the masters of expression in literature are blended and the effects of their sharp observation powers are seen. What he means as a tool is actually the political ground.
